KPOP1004 California Transparency in Supply Chains Act Disclosure
Last Updated: March 07, 2025
At KPOP1004, we are dedicated to providing our customers with high-quality K-Pop goods, K-Beauty products, and general merchandise while upholding ethical standards in our supply chain. In compliance with the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act (SB 657), we are disclosing our efforts to address and prevent slavery, forced labor, and human trafficking within our direct supply chain. Below, we outline our policies and practices in the five key areas required by the Act: verification, auditing, certification, internal accountability, and training.
1. Verification of Supply Chains
- Our Approach: KPOP1004 evaluates risks related to human trafficking and slavery in our supply chain by engaging with our direct suppliers—those who manufacture or provide the K-Pop merchandise, K-Beauty products, and general goods we sell.
- Process: We conduct initial risk assessments based on factors such as geographic location, industry, and supplier history. High-risk areas (e.g., regions known for labor violations) are prioritized for further scrutiny.
- Third-Party Involvement: While we primarily rely on internal reviews, we are exploring partnerships with independent third-party organizations specializing in supply chain verification to enhance our efforts.
2. Supplier Audits
- Audit Practices: We perform periodic audits of select suppliers to ensure compliance with our ethical standards. These audits may be announced or unannounced, depending on the supplier’s risk profile.
- Scope: Audits focus on labor conditions, worker treatment, and adherence to anti-slavery and anti-trafficking laws. For example, we review K-Beauty product manufacturers for fair wage practices and K-Pop merchandise suppliers for safe working environments.
- Third-Party Auditors: At this time, audits are conducted internally by our compliance team, but we aim to incorporate independent auditors in the future to strengthen objectivity and credibility.
- Response to Findings: If violations are identified, we work with suppliers to implement corrective actions or terminate relationships if necessary.
3. Supplier Certification
- Requirements: We require our direct suppliers to certify that the materials and products they provide comply with all applicable laws regarding slavery and human trafficking in the countries where they operate.
- Documentation: Suppliers sign agreements or submit written certifications as part of our onboarding process. For instance, a K-Pop merchandise supplier in South Korea must confirm compliance with local labor laws.
- Monitoring: Certifications are reviewed annually or when contracts are renewed to ensure ongoing adherence.
4. Internal Accountability
- Code of Conduct: KPOP1004 maintains a Supplier Code of Conduct that explicitly prohibits slavery, forced labor, and human trafficking. This code is shared with all employees and suppliers.
- Enforcement: Employees or contractors found violating our policies—such as knowingly engaging with non-compliant suppliers—face disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
- Oversight: Our compliance team, reporting to senior management, is responsible for monitoring and enforcing these standards across the organization.
5. Training
- Employee Training: We provide training to employees involved in supply chain management, such as our procurement and sourcing teams. This includes education on recognizing signs of human trafficking and slavery, understanding our Supplier Code of Conduct, and following verification procedures.
- Frequency: Training is conducted during onboarding and refreshed annually to keep staff informed of best practices and legal requirements.
- Content: Sessions cover topics like ethical sourcing of K-Beauty ingredients (e.g., avoiding exploitative labor in raw material production) and ensuring fair labor practices in K-Pop merchandise manufacturing.
Our Commitment
KPOP1004 is committed to continuously improving our supply chain practices. We recognize that eradicating slavery and human trafficking is an ongoing effort, and we are dedicated to transparency and accountability. As we grow, we plan to deepen our partnerships with ethical suppliers, expand third-party audits, and enhance training programs.
